Is It Possible to Grow Taller? Separating Myth From Fact.

There are many people that are short that would like to gain just a couple of inches in height. Often times, kids will grow once they hit puberty. However, if your genetics are predisposed to only allowing you to grow to a certain height, it may not be possible for you to get any taller. In this article, we will discuss a few proven methods that will help you improve your chances of gaining the extra height that you want to achieve.

Before we actually discuss the methods behind increasing your physical height, we have to first help you understand a little bit about why some people are tall and others are short. In most cases, your genetics play a large role in the overall height that you will achieve as an adult. Height is actually influenced by several different genes in the body. Therefore, even if your parents are both short, that does not mean that you are guaranteed to be short as well. There are ways to get around this polygenic trait that seems to keep many people at lower height levels. Is It Possible to Grow Taller?

Myths Exposed

You should also know that there are many myths about what will stunt your growth that are simply not true. You have probably heard the story that people who drank coffee at an early age actually caused their shorter height to occur. Science has conclusively shown that caffeine has no effect whatsoever on your genetic ability to grow taller. This myth is the same as the one that states that secondhand smoke, or smoking in general, can stunt your growth. The only one that does have some credence is in the use of steroids which can actually inhibit bone growth in some people that use this to build muscle at an early age.

Proper Nutrition

In order to increase the odds in your favor of growing taller than you are now, it really comes down to a couple of healthy habits that can work to your benefit. For instance, if you are eating healthy food, and avoiding junk food, you are providing your body with the necessary ingredients to help your body grow as quickly and as tall as possible. By getting enough sleep, you allow the natural production of the human growth hormone, otherwise known as HGH, to help your body grow by influencing the pituitary gland which is directly associated with how much height you will actually achieve.

Vitamins and minerals are also extremely important to take on a regular basis. In fact, if you are deficient with some of them, it can actually stunt your growth significantly. Taking proper amounts of niacin, zinc, and vitamin D, you can avoid the potential stunting of your growth, and also promote proper bone growth which can lead to growing taller.

Genetics And Health

Most importantly, taking significant amounts of vitamin C has been shown to improve your immune system. The healthier that your body is while you are growing, the better chance you have of growing taller by the time you reach a certain age. Therefore, by eating healthy foods, and getting a proper amount of vitamins and minerals in your body as you grow, you can improve the chances of reaching the maximum height that your body’s genetics will allow you to.

In conclusion, it would be nice if you could simply take a pill that would help you grow taller. Unfortunately, the best that you can do is improve your chances of reaching your maximum genetic height by providing your body with nutritious food that will give you the highest probability of getting tall. You should also consider visiting your doctor to find out if you have any auto immune diseases or growth hormone deficiencies, in order to improve your chances of reaching your optimal height level.
